Sarakan toothpaste contains a natural extract of Salvadora persica, also known as the "toothbrush tree" - which has been used in its natural state for centuries as an effective way to keep teeth and gums clean and healthy. It is still used by millions of people every day.
Over thirty years ago, a British officer serving in India noticed that the locals had remarkably well-preserved teeth despite their poor diet. They brushed their teeth with a Salvadora twig, adapted as a toothbrush. After returning to the UK and reading scientific articles about the antibacterial properties of Salvadora, he created a natural toothpaste with Salvadora extracts, which he scented with essential oils. Thus, Sarakan was born.

*Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) is a chemical foaming agent added to many toothpastes, Sarakan toothpaste does not use SLS, as foaming does not mean the product is more effective, despite its appearance.
