The Omron BF511 uses bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), which measures electrical resistance in the body to calculate various parameters of body composition. Measurements include body fat percentage, visceral fat, muscle mass, BMI (body mass index) and basal metabolic rate (BMR). The Omron BF511 measures the entire body, as it includes hand and foot electrodes, which allows for more accurate results compared to devices that only measure the lower body.
